week 11 Miracles

Worship - what a mighty god we serve.   Instruments and lots of jumping up and down :) https://www.bing.com/videos/search?&q=miracles+of+jesus+for+preschool+song&docid=608013193158353068&mid=EED5A9E9FB41A9E37DC9EED5A9E9FB41A9E37DC9&view=detail&form=VDRVRV&ajaxhist=0

Last week we learned that Jesus started asking people to leave what they were doing to follow him.  Simon-Peter, Adrew, James and John were all fishermen who left their boats to follow Jesus.  Soon some more people decided to follow Him too.  In the end Jesus had a group of 12 people who became His best friends.  They were all sorts of different people.  Some were young, some were older.  Some were clever and some were not very clever.  Some knew a bit about God already and some knew nothing much about Him at all.  Do you have friends?  What are they like?  Most of us have friends who are like us.  They maybe go to the same school or church as we do.  Or maybe we make friends when we do an activity like swimming or dancing or football - those people like doing the same things we do.  Thats why they are our friends.   But Jesus chose friends who were very different from Him.  He didnt mind what job people did or how tall they were or if they were good at football.  Jesus looks INSIDE people.  He wants everyone to be His friend.

After Jesus had got his 12 friends around Him he started to do some amazing things.  He prayed for sick people to get better - and they did.  He told the stormy rain to stop and it did!  He walked on water  ( can you do that?)  He told dead people to get up and come alive - and they did.   Jesus did so many amazing wonderful things.  Everywhere He went people came to Him wanting Him to do things for them.  Remember this was back in the time when there were no hospitals, not many medicines and hardly any doctors.  If people got sick there was nobody to help them.  So when Jesus started to make sick people better everyone wanted His help.

Theres a special word for the special things Jesus did.  MIRACLE.   Lets watch one of the miracles Jesus did  https://www.bing.com/videos/search?  &q=miracles+of+jesus+for+preschool&docid=608036712399962367&mid=1028C0A205F9909670A11028C0A205F9909670A1&view=detail&form=VDRVRV&ajaxhist=0   ( feeding 5000)

Do you remember that Jesus came to show us what God is like?   When Jesus did these amazing things He was showing people that God is amazing.  God can do impossible things.  God can make you better when you are sick.  He can give you food when you are hungry.  He can make good things happen and bad things stop.  God and Jesus are brilliant.  We mustnt forget to tell people how cool He is and thank Him for doing amazing things for us.

Illustration  - Put a load of breadsticks or crackers in a bucket. Place a second bucket on top with just a few crackers in it.  Cover with a cloth. Show the kids the top bucket with few in then cover and when taking the cloth off again take top bucket with it revealing the fuller one underneath. Hopefully they will be amazed :)  Do the same with the fish sweets.   Use the food as snack.
