week 13 Jesus dies

We have been learning all about Jesus and today we are going to see if we can remember everything we have learned.

1) We started off by learning that God is made up of three people,  God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.   Do you remember how we looked at an egg which is made up of a shell and an egg white and a yolk.  All 3 things are the egg but there are 3 different parts.  Thats like God.  Father, Son and Spirit are all God

2) But we cant see God.  So Jesus came to show us what God is like.   We learned that Jesus was born as a tiny baby and his Mum and Dad were poor.  God sent angels and special stars in the sky to let everyone know He was coming to earth but only some shepherds and a few wise men noticed.  Everyone else was too busy.

3) baby Jesus grew up in His family.  His Dad Joseph was a carpenter so Jesus worked as a carpenter too making tables and chairs and things out of wood

4) Another special baby came along called John.  John grew up and lived in the wilderness eating bugs and honey.   He started to tell everyone that someone special from God was going to come to tell them all about God and how to know Him.   John baptised people - and he baptised Jesus too

5) When Jesus was grown up He gathered some friends - all sorts of different people - and started to teach them about what God is like.   He did this by telling stories and by showing them amazing miracles.   He made sick people better, He made dead people come alive again, He walked on water and made a couple of sandwiches feed 5000 people.   Everyone who heard and saw Him was amazed.  He was a very very special person

Does anyone know what happened to Jesus next?

It is very sad.  He was killed.  Lots of people loved and followed Jesus but some people didnt like Him and wanted to get rid of Him.  So they told lies about Him to the police and Jesus was arrested and put in jail.   And then He died and all His friends we so so sad.   They cried and they were scared and didnt know what to do next.  They buried Jesus in the ground and they went home to be sad and wonder why God had let that happen.   But guess what?  Thats not the end of the story.   What did God do next?   He did the biggest miracle of all.   He made Jesus come alive again after three days.

Activity.   decorate a christmas tree?  Either a 'real one' they can hang decorations on  or cut out green card trees and  stick on shapes (there are stickers and stick on shapes in the kids church drawers, ask phoebe)

week 2 - nativity

 Last week we learned that God is made up of three parts.  Can we remember what they were? God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit live in heaven which is a special place that we cant see.  We know it is there but we can't see it.   Can you see the wind?  No, but you know it is there cos you can see it blowing things ( use a windmill to demonstrate)   We cant see God but we can see what He does, (and in the past lots of people saw what God had done and wrote down these things in a book.  All the stories of what God has done are in the Bible and its a really good book to read if you want to know what God is like.   But God knows that its easier to understand stuff we can see so thats why He decided to show us what He looks like by sending the Son, Jesus.   Remember that Jesus is a part of God, but He is a part we can see!!! (Week 12 Jesus teaches)

 Jesus came to show us what God is like.  He came as a baby and had a family because God loves families.  When he was little He went to church because God loves church.  Jesus had friends because God thinks friends are really important.  Jesus did lots of amazing miracles because God is amazing and can do anything - even impossible things.   But Jesus didnt just do wonderful things, He also told everyone what God was like. So what did Jesus say about God? Well, He said that God is LOVE.  ( 1 John 4:8)  God is made of love and He is where all the love in the world comes from.  Who loves you?  Who do you love?  Well all of that love comes from God.  Isnt that brilliant?
